Turner & Townsend are seeking an experienced Senior Cost Controller/Senior Consultant who is either ready to take the next step in their career or currently operating in a comparable role within the civil infrastructure industry. Experience in rail or transportation construction is preferred. In-office working at the client office is required three days out of the work week.
ResponsibilitiesAs a Senior Cost Controller, you will be involved with:
- Supporting Project managers/Cost Managers in all elements of cost controls including budgeting, forecasting, change management and risk management. This is done through advising the project managers on utilizing controls tools within the project governance framework and through project management software, and reviewing the outputs they produce.
- Reviewing pre-tender requests prior to projects going out to tender to confirm budget is available and that the cost information has the appropriate breakdown for entry into the financial system.
- Reviewing all procurement sourcing strategies for the portfolio, making recommendations on prequalified suppliers to invite to bid, and validating that the procurement approach meets governance requirements.
- Supporting Project Managers in developing their sourcing strategies through discussing routes to market, delivery models and contract options.
- Developing, managing and monitoring the Project budget, estimate at completion, forecast and rate of expenditures.
- Submit for review and approval a proposed Project Management staffing plan and budget for the year ahead.
- Reviewing, evaluating and supporting negotiation of contract changes prior to their execution in the financial system.
- Review, analyze and process contractor payment applications and invoices.
- Review and/or produce month end reporting data with the delivery teams and identify priority projects to be reported to the leadership team.
- Develop, maintain Key Performance Indicators to track the performance of the Project.
- Supporting Project Managers in transferring capital project costs to assets and the financial closure of projects.
- Leading development of new Controls tools or Project Management Software functionality to support Project Controls.
- Providing training on new Controls tools and/or Project Management Software functionality.
- Reporting to the Finance Department on portfolio financial variances, the pipeline for project financial closure, potential project write-offs and providing status updates on projects of interest when requested.
- Develop Project Controls content for continuous process improvements.
- SOX control responsibilities may be part of this role, which are to be adhered to where applicable.
