Position: Controller (Construction)

, a Baltimore-based general contracting company serving the Mid-Atlantic region, is looking to recruit an experienced Controller. As a general contracting company, we specialize in residential and commercial renovations and new construction. To support continued internal growth, you will implement new processes and contribute continuous improvement to existing processes. You will prepare, research and analyze financial data, problem-solve, and prepare information for presentation to the executive leadership team.

The ideal candidate for this position is reliable and committed to consistently meeting deadlines. The following is a brief description of duties and responsibilities:

Responsibilities
  • Provide high-level review of AP, AR, and payroll functions
  • Assist with complex AP/AR tasks, including specialized billing structures
  • Prepare financial statements and supporting schedules according to a monthly closing schedule
  • Analyze financial statements on a monthly basis and report on variances
  • Develop and provide projections of revenue and cash flow to management teams to meet operational needs
  • Oversee projections of backlog and associated revenue and profit projections
  • Support evaluation of fiscal strategy and risk management processes
  • Oversee the development and maintenance of systems supporting financial reporting, payroll and banking systems
  • Ensure controls are in place to safeguard company assets and ensure integrity of financial data
  • Coordinate annual outside CPA audit of financial statements
  • Assist with the annual budget process for operating companies
Qualifications
  • Excellent understanding of Cost Accounting in the Construction Field
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting (CPA preferred)
  • Minimum of 7 years Accounting experience with at least 3 years experience as a Contoller
  • Must be proficient with Excel
  • Proficiency with Sage 300 required
  • Experience with ADP payroll systems required
  • Strong communication skills; highly organized, self-motivated, and able to work independently
Compensation

Compensation: Salary commensurate with experience with full benefits, including vacation and sick leave, and 401k employer match program.
