Controller (Manufacturing Exp. Req.) Description

Our client in the manufacturing industry is looking for a Controller to join their team just southwest of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. This is a highly visible and hands-on leadership role reporting directly to the CFO. The Controller will oversee both strategic corporate finance functions and detailed day-to-day operations. The role includes managing a team of up to four direct reports (Accounting Manager and Staff Accountants) and four indirect clerical staff.

The ideal candidate will bring extensive accounting experience within manufacturing, including exposure to ERP systems, SOX compliance, and/or percentage of completion accounting. This is an exciting opportunity to join a company on the rise and play a critical role in its continued success.

Controller (Manufacturing Exp. Req.) Responsibilities

• Support high-level complex corporate accounting/finance and day-to-day business

• Oversee Billing, A/R, A/P, GL, Cost & Inventory Accounting, & Revenue Recognition

• Master the monthly and quarterly reporting process, and oversee the team’s future execution

• Direct budget preparation and financial forecasts, report variances

• Provide strategic financial insights for decision-making

• Prepare and publish timely monthly financial statements

• Coordinate regulatory reporting and ensure compliance

• Ensure accuracy and integrity of financial reporting per GAAP

• Analyze financial data and present accurate financial reports

• Manage tax reporting and compliance within applicable tax laws

• Evaluate the performance of accounting and financial staff

Controller (Manufacturing Exp. Req.) Qualifications

• CPA or a Master’s Degree in Accounting/Finance is required

• 7+ years of progressive accounting experience is required

• Prior team management experience is required

• Manufacturing industry experience is required

• Experience with ERP systems, SOX compliance, and/or % of completion accounting is required

• Advanced proficiency in Excel, particularly with large datasets and financial reporting, is required

• Ability to work 100% on-site is required
