Northrop Grumman Mission Systems Manufacturing Engineering is seeking a Staff Manufacturing Systems Engineer to join the Operations Team. The Manufacturing Systems Engineer will be responsible for shaping and executing the Product Line strategy across the Airborne Multifunction Sensors (AMS) division as well as consulting as a subject matter expert on capital projects, MTA and IRAD efforts. What you will get to do:
* Engage with the AMS business units during pre-proposal, proposal, and early execution program phases to offer insight into higher yielding, novel, and evolving manufacturing processes.
* Support IPTs in make/buy/dual-sourcing decisions
* Participate in producibility reviews for new product designs
* Develop Manufacturing Readiness Assessments (MRA) and MPs per AS6500
* Ensure success of critical Technology Demonstrator builds in the factory for AMS programs
* Recommend design improvements to produce lower cost/higher performing products
* Understand and translate state-of-the-art process capabilities and guidelines for product designers by interfacing with manufacturing subject matter experts
* Developing a Manufacturing Plan for each phase of the program
* Cost Modeling and Design to Cost activities
* Deploy digital transformation of MSE work products for the use of efficient and successful manufacturing planning
* Identify producibility gaps between current and required capabilities for executing new hardware, then developing Manufacturing Maturity Plans (MMP) to address these gaps. MMPs will include but not be limited to execution of Affordability, Manufacturing Planning, NCTA Planning, Capital Planning and Strategic Sourcing Efforts. The Manufacturing Systems Engineering (MSE) must perform in a fast-paced, dynamic, and high visibility operation. They must be able to communicate written and verbally, have a passion for people, innovation, and excellence, along with the ability to effectively collaborate with multiple disciplines to solve complex issues.
Successful MSE Attributes:
* Able to understand complex technical issues and frame them in context for program management and functional Vice Presidents alike
* Able to communicate effectively and clearly present technical approaches and findings at customer and executive levels
* Self-motivated and passionate about next generation sensor technology
* Able to drive advanced technical manufacturing principles, theories, and concepts in the advancement of next generation RF sensors independently
* Able to determine and pursue courses of action necessary to advance technological ideas and guide their development toward predetermined long-range goals and objectives
* Able to find technical adjacencies across different applications, and pair them with IRAD, capital, and MTA planning to ensure common processes are used to optimize NGMS resources. Basic Qualifications for a Staff Manufacturing Systems Engineering:
* Bachelor's Degree in a related STEM field and a minimum of 12 years of relevant professional experience (10 years with a Master's degree or 8 years with a PhD)
* Experience with processes and materials used by RF Sensors including semiconductor technology, microelectronic assembly, printed circuit board fabrication, surface mount technology, electromechanical assembly, and materials for RF performance
* Experience in manufacturing system engineering processes and products throughout the program life cycle, as well as providing technical leadership and guidance.
* Experience with NCTA, CRAD, and Capital project including submittal and execution
* Current, active Department of Defense (DoD) Secret Clearance with the ability to obtain a Special Access Program (SAP) clearance
* US Citizenship required
Preferred Qualifications for a Staff Manufacturing Systems Engineering:
* 5 or more years of manufacturing process engineering related experience
* 2 or more years of program experience (operations program manager, program management)
