Job Summary

Job Title: Construction Project Engineer

Location: Baltimore, MD 21227

Reports to: Project Manager

FLSA Status: Full-Time / Exempt

Work Shift: 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. / Mon. – Fri.

Overview

The Project Engineer assists the company in meeting its objectives and goals by supporting the Project Manager and project team, which are responsible for overseeing and directing assigned commercial construction projects, ensuring projects are completed on time, within budget and with defined resources.

The Project Engineer will ensure a safe working environment for all employees and drive project execution and management.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Assist with the execution and management of project contract terms.
  • Prepare and present computer-generated spreadsheets and reports.
  • Perform QA/QC for project equipment and materials and manage all related documentation and reporting.
  • Maintain regular communication and collaboration with project superintendents by visiting assigned job sites.
  • Generate, maintain and facilitate project documentation in the execution of project/construction processes for all phases of the project, including requests for information, submittals, project plans, specifications, subcontract documentation, purchase orders, material orders, etc.
  • Demonstrate attention to detail, efficiency and integrity in work products.
  • Adapt to different work environments and project locations, with required travel to various sites.
  • Hold a valid driver’s license and maintain reliable transportation.
  • Attend and conduct meetings as required.
  • Comply with all company operating policies, procedures and safety programs.

Preferred

Education and Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, construction management, business administration or a related field, or a combination of education and experience attaining Journeyman status.
  • 1–3 years of mechanical, plumbing or industrial HVAC field experience.
  • Familiarity with a wide variety of field concepts, practices and procedures.
  • Working knowledge of OSHA safety standards.
  • Working knowledge of construction contract language and terms.
  • Familiarity with the local market is desirable.
Computer Skills
  • Direct experience and increasing expertise with Microsoft Office Word and Excel.
  • Ability to utilize industry-specific software such as Constructware®, Prolog®, Helix® and others as required.

Physical Demands

The role requires sitting, seeing, talking, hearing, using hands and walking. Physical tasks include lifting up to 25 pounds. Commuting to field locations is required.
