Compensation highly depends on experience and education. Applicants with more substantial experience should expect higher compensation.

• Conduct field investigations to determine the root cause of failures, accidents, and performance issues involving a wide range of mechanical systems, including but not limited to:
  • Boilers
  • Chillers
  • Pressure vessels
  • Steam valves
  • Pumps
  • HVAC systems
  • Refrigeration systems
  • Water heaters and heat exchangers
  • Plumbing/piping systems
  • Industrial machinery
• Perform detailed engineering analyses related to design, construction, operation, and maintenance of mechanical systems.
• Evaluate standard of care for various stakeholders, such as engineers, general contractors, subcontractors, service providers, and owners.
• Determine causation and responsibility for system failures, operational issues, and equipment malfunctions.
• Collaborate with a team of multidisciplinary experts.
• Provide technical findings and conclusions in laymen's terms, both verbally and in writing.
• Provide testimony in legal proceedings, which may include depositions and court proceedings.
• Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, establishing personal networks, and participating in professional societies.
• Responsible for development and retention of clients.
• Regular and predictable presence at work.
• Other duties as assigned.

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering required, Master's degree preferred.
• Professional Engineer registration, or the ability to obtain within a year.
• Minimum of seven years of post-academic engineering experience.
• Diverse knowledge of mechanical systems and equipment.
• Strong writing skills.
• Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills.
• Public speaking experience a plus.
• Accept and integrate constructive feedback into performance.
• Commitment to continuous learning about technical matters.

• Ability to travel 25% of the time.
• Ability to maneuver in and around an accident site.
• Ability to lift 40 lbs.

• Ability to physically use respirators and other safety devices.
