The incumbent in this position will serve as the Regulatory and Compliance Engineer Supervisor (Division Chief). The incumbent will be responsible for providing administrative and technical supervision of the Process Compliance Division within the Air and Radiation Management Administration’s Compliance Program. The Regulatory and Compliance Engineer Supervisor will oversee staff responsible for evaluating and enforcing air quality regulations, reviewing facility operations, and ensuring compliance with state and federal environmental standards.
The incumbent will coordinate division activities, set priorities, and ensure consistent implementation of program goals and policies. The working conditions of this position involve exposure to uncomfortable or unpleasant surroundings. The incumbent may be exposed to unpleasant odors, may need to walk through muddy/messy conditions, and /or exposed to industrial conditions when conducting occasional field work. This position also requires the use of protective equipment such as goggles, gloves, masks, etc.
during site visits.
Education:
A Bachelor's degree in engineering or architecture from an accredited college or university.
Experience:
Four years of engineering or architectural experience in pollution control, waste remediation, resource conservation, environmental protection, or public health and safety to ensure regulatory or quality compliance with engineering or architectural standards, practices, principles and methods. Notes:
- 1. Candidates may substitute the possession of a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with at least 20 credit hours in engineering and two years performing engineering or architectural work in pollution control, waste remediation, resource conservation, environmental protection, public health and safety, or a related area for the required education.
- 2. Candidates may substitute the possession of a Master’s degree in engineering or architecture from an accredited college or university for up to one year of the required experience.
- 3. Candidates may substitute the possession of a current Professional Engineer or Professional Architect registration in the State of Maryland or in a state with comparable requirements may be substituted for the required education and one year of the required experience.
- 4. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a commissioned officer in Engineering and Architecture classifications or Engineering and Architecture specialty codes in the Environmental field of work on a year-for-year basis for the required experience and education.
- Three years of experience in an air quality field
- Knowledge of air quality compliance and inspection protocols
- Managerial/supervisory experience
