At Northrop Grumman, employees work on revolutionary systems that impact people’s lives worldwide. The AMS E&S organization in Baltimore is seeking a Staff Engineer RF Microwave Design to support several onsite product lines.
Responsibilities- Lead the Hardware Design Team and partner with engineering function leaders to progress and mature hardware products.
- Support the full design lifecycle: development, integration, testing, and critical engineering reviews.
- Oversee the design, modeling, and verification of RF, microwave, and mixed‑signal assemblies.
- Lead verification efforts for RF, analog, and digital hardware designs, troubleshoot failures, and conduct investigations.
- Collaborate with peer functions such as Mechanical, Manufacturing, Test, and IC design engineers.
- Derive and trade requirements with subsystem engineers and component‑level designers.
- Mentor engineers from a technical standpoint and perform senior peer reviews.
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a comparable STEM degree and a minimum of 12 years of relevant engineering experience (10 years with a Master’s or 8 years with a PhD). An additional 4 years of experience may substitute for a degree.
- Active Secret clearance and ability to obtain SAP clearance.
- Familiarity with RF/microwave modeling, simulation, and PCB design tools (e.g., Keysight ADS, Xpedition, HFSS).
- Drafting and design experience in PCB design for fabrication and PWB layer stack‑up for digital, RF, and mixed‑signal CCAs.
- Experience testing and troubleshooting from component to assembly levels.
- Ability to provide solutions to a broad variety of complex RF/microwave design and test problems.
- Experience leading technical teams.
- Strong understanding of hardware design principles and the Hardware Design Process.
- Expert proficiency with industry‑standard RF/microwave modeling, simulation, and PCB design tools (e.g., Keysight ADS, Xpedition, HFSS).
Primary Level Salary Range: $ – $ (subject to factors such as scope and responsibilities, experience, education, and market conditions).
