Physical Security Engineer (Data Centers)
Jacobs is seeking a Physical Security Engineer (Data Centers) to join our dynamic team and contribute to security projects across the United States.
Base Pay Range$/yr – $/yr
Job OverviewAs a Physical Security Engineer, you will work on the entire design process, from preliminary assessments through drawing production, and collaborate closely with our security technology team, architecture, civil, electrical, and instrumentation disciplines.
Responsibilities- Perform preliminary assessments and concept creation for security design.
- Lead design efforts with support from peers, subject‑matter experts, and BIM designers.
- Resolve internal and external design issues.
- Produce drawings, schedules, and specification documents.
- Ensure designs meet customer and vendor accessibility requirements.
- Conduct calculations for video storage, bandwidth usage, and power loads.
- Coordinate cross‑discipline efforts and identify conflicts or inconsistencies.
- Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, computer science, or a related discipline; master’s degree preferred.
- Professional Engineering (PE) license required.
- Professional security certifications (CISSP, CPP, PSP, etc.) are a plus.
- 12+ years of professional experience in planning, designing, and commissioning physical security systems and/or communication networks; project management experience is a plus.
- In‑depth knowledge of physical security systems—video surveillance, access control, biometric systems, intrusion detection—and familiarity with leading manufacturers.
- Experience with vulnerability and risk assessments and assessment methodologies.
- Ability to evaluate emerging technologies and assess trade‑offs among systems (e.g., cameras, thermal imaging, radar, lidar).
- Strong understanding of network technologies and cybersecurity principles.
- Exceptional problem‑solving abilities.
- Ability to work collaboratively, provide and receive constructive feedback.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficiency with Bluebeam, Revit, ACC, BIM
360, AutoCAD, Micro Station, and CSI design specifications. - Experience estimating and scheduling mid‑to‑large‑scale project design effort and cost estimating for security implementation.
- Design management experience in data centers.
- Leading projects and managing resources.
- Mentoring junior staff.
