Senior Architect; Chicago, IL

Planate Management Group (PMG) is a Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Business headquartered in Alexandria, Virginia, and Orlando, Florida, USA, with technical support centers in Southeast Asia and East Africa. PMG provides program management and facilities engineering services worldwide, supporting the U.S. Department of Defense and other federal agencies with planning, design, infrastructure management, technical consulting, engineering and construction management services.

We are looking for a licensed professional Architect to lead the design and construction oversight for the Jesse Brown VA Medical Center (VAMC) in Chicago, IL, for the Electronic Health Record Modernization (EHRM) Infrastructure Upgrade project. As an Architect, you will ensure that construction activities comply with VA standards, federal and state codes, and project requirements while supporting quality assurance, cost control, and schedule management.

• Review and interpret construction contract documents, drawings, and specifications.
• Perform constructability reviews and assess impacts on hospital operations.
• Monitor project schedules, budgets, and change orders and provide recommendations to the COR.
• Conduct inspections for quality, safety, and contract compliance.
• Provide guidance on design modifications, value engineering, and long‑lead items.
• Attend weekly/monthly progress meetings and prepare project status reports.
• Supervise and coordinate multidisciplinary personnel as needed.

• Bachelor’s degree in Architecture.
• Registered Architect (RA) license.
• Minimum 10 years of combined design and construction experience in active medical facilities.
• Experience with VA Design Manuals, Specifications, and TIL.
• Knowledge of construction contract documents, building codes, budgeting, and scheduling.
• Proven ability to supervise and manage personnel across disciplines.
