Pennoni is hiring Graduate Civil Engineers to join our Transportation Engineering team on a full-time, direct basis. We have needs across several disciplines and are looking for enthusiastic, detail-oriented engineers ready to contribute to projects for state agencies, counties, and local municipalities.
Highway EngineerJob Responsibilities:
- Participate in the development of engineering design projects, producing plans, documents, and reports in a team environment.
- Review and apply standard engineering design principles.
- Implement 3‑D modelling software (Micro Station/InRoads, AutoCAD/Civil 3D) for transportation infrastructure projects.
- Contribute to transportation infrastructure plans, including highway design, hydrology, drainage calculations, storm‑water management, sanitary sewer layout, MOT plans, and geometry.
- Support projects of various sizes for diverse clients.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Basic understanding of engineering design parameters.
- Relevant experience with highway geometry, water resources, or overall plan preparation.
- Exposure to modeling tools such as Open Roads.
- Experience with highway/roadway design, drainage, storm‑water management, and erosion/sediment control; CCR training is a plus.
- Exposure to Bluebeam Revu and GIS tools.
Job Responsibilities:
- Assist with the structural analysis and design of bridges, culverts, retaining walls, and overhead signs.
- Support bridge design functions and NBIS Bridge inspections across the Pennoni footprint.
- Produce high‑quality engineering documents for bridge design/inspection reports, specifications, and studies.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in Civil Engineering with a structural focus.
- Completed FHWA‑NHI‑13005 (Safety Inspection of In‑Service Bridges).
- Bridge engineering experience with a major agency.
- Knowledge of structural analysis programs (STAAD, LEAP Bridge, AASHTOWare, etc.).
Job Responsibilities:
- Assist with traffic impact analysis, safety evaluations, signal design, and preparation of signing, pavement markings, MOT/ construction phasing, TMPs, and lighting plans.
- Review traffic studies for new developments and projects.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with SYNCHRO traffic signal design software.
- Exposure to Open Roads modeling tools.
- Familiarity with maintenance of traffic schemes, construction phasing, and traffic control plans.
- Experience with lighting design software.
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or a related discipline.
- Professional Engineer (P.E. / E.I.T.) is a plus.
- Established knowledge of civil engineering principles (geometrics, structural analysis, steel/concrete design, hydrology, hydraulics, geotechnical/foundation).
- Experience with Micro Station and AutoCAD.
- Interest in working on infrastructure projects in the Mid‑Atlantic region.
- Strong organization and planning ability.
Target Salary Range: $60k – $75k per year.
