Northrop Grumman Mission Systems has an opportunity available for a Sr. Principal Chief Engineer/Integrated Product Team (IPT) Lead to join our team of qualified and diverse individuals. These positions will be located in Baltimore, MD, and placement will be commensurate with qualifications.
What You’ll Get To Do:This individual will lead a cross‑discipline engineering team typically greater than 5 people for a low to medium risk project and interface with Engineering & Program Management, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, and Mission Assurance. The selected candidates will perform in a fast‑paced work environment with high expectations, significantly diverse assignments, and collaborative/team settings. The selected candidates are expected to be self‑motivated, highly‑organized, and detail oriented and possess effective verbal and written communication skills.
Roles & Responsibilities :- Lead and direct cross‑functional engineering teams during proposal, design, manufacturing, and delivery phases of products in development and production phases
- Support proposal development and new program acquisition efforts
- Interpret statements of work assigned by program leadership
- Develop and execute project budgets and schedules, including Earned Value Management System (EVMS), critical path management, Estimates‑at‑Completion (EACs), and workload forecasts
- Interface with functional departments to secure team staffing
- Work with suppliers and be able to articulate project requirements
- Brief internal and customer leadership on progress of work assigned
- Bachelor’s Degree in a STEM field and a minimum of 8 years related experience or Master’s Degree in STEM and a minimum of 6 years related experience. An additional 4 years of experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
- Must have an active/current Secret clearance. Clearance is required to start. Must be able to obtain special program access. Must be able to maintain this level of clearance and program access for continued employment.
- 2 years experience as Integrated Product Team (IPT) Lead, Technical lead, or other leadership role in a program office or business function with demonstrated team building, organizational, and interpersonal skills
- 2 years experience with have leadership experience in a team environment same as above
- 2 years experience in Design, Manufacturing or Test process
- Experience as a Control Account Manager (CAM) managing Earned Value Management System (EVMS) projects
- Fluency with developing and executing project schedules
- PMP certification a plus
- Active and current Top Secret government clearance
Primary Level Salary Range: $ – $. The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate’s experience, education, skills and current market conditions. Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay.
