In collaboration with the Director, the Associate Director supports the development, implementation, and assessment of policies, procedures, and service delivery models that promote equal access to academic, residential, and co-curricular experiences. SDSS fosters inclusive and equitable learning environments for students with disabilities as a core expression of Morgan State University's values related to diversity, equity, and student success.

The Associate Director also provides strategic oversight of accommodation processes, case management, and staff support, ensuring that services are student-centered, legally sound, and aligned with institutional priorities.

  • Ensure full compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act by overseeing accommodation determinations, maintaining accurate records, and addressing compliance concerns in a timely and legally sound manner.
  • Serve as a primary liaison to academic, residential, and administrative departments across campus to consult on disability-related matters, accommodation implementation, and inclusive practices.
  • Develop and deliver training and educational programs for faculty, staff, and students on disability awareness, accommodation processes, accessibility best practices, and legal obligations.
  • Collect, analyze, and report data related to student utilization, accommodation trends, service outcomes, and compliance metrics to inform decision-making, improve services, and support institutional assessment, accreditation, and reporting requirements.
  • Assist the Director with the daily operations of Student Disability Support Services, including workflow management, process improvement, policy implementation, and service delivery assessment.
  • Support the supervision, training, and professional development of SDSS staff, including contributing to performance evaluations, mentoring, and ensuring consistent application of policies and procedures.
  • Respond to and resolve access-related concerns across campus, including classroom, testing, housing, and co-curricular environments, using an interactive and student-centered approach.
  • Collaborate with off-campus providers, community agencies, and medical and mental health professionals to support documentation review, referrals, and continuity of care for students.
  • Assist in the management and oversight of the SDSS Testing Center, including scheduling, proctoring standards, exam security, and accommodation implementation, as needed.
  • Ensure SDSS technical standards are upheld, including accessibility of digital platforms, assistive technologies, and documentation systems used to support students and manage accommodations.
