## Business Education Teacher Candidate Pool
** DESCRIPTION
* * Under the direction of the principal and/or assistant principal, the Secondary Business Education Teacher plans and provides appropriate learning experiences for all students.  Secondary Business Education e Teachers provide an atmosphere and environment conducive to the intellectual, social, physical, and emotional development of all students to ensure individualized student success.  Secondary Business Education Teachers provide an understanding of business education Providing real-world career and industry related experiences, Secondary Business Education Teachers prepare all students for success in a dynamic 21 century rich with a variety of career pathways.  

Secondary Business Education Teachers are responsible for developing, selecting, and differentiating instructional plans and materials based on the Howard County Public School System (HCPSS) curriculum to meet the needs of all students.  
** MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

** Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in an applicable field of education. Maryland State Department of Education (MSDE) certification:
Business Education 7-12

Three previous years of teaching experience
** ESSENTIAL POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES
** The below list is a summary of the functions of the job, not an exhaustive or comprehensive list of all possible job responsibilities, tasks, and duties. Plan and implement instructional programs that adhere to system-wide goals and priorities and meet the needs, interests, and abilities of all students. Establish learning objectives consistent with student needs, requirements of the HCPSS curriculum framework, and knowledge of student growth and development.

Provide input when necessary to student Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) and EL Accommodation Plans.
* Plan and oversee purposeful assignments for para educators, student assistants, and/or classroom volunteers.
* Provide non-evaluative input on para educator and/or student assistants’ job performance as requested.
* Establish relationships with administrators, curricular office staff, colleagues, students, families, and the school community that reflect recognition of and respect for every individual.
* Participate in and share responsibility for the safe and orderly operation of schools.
* Attend staff meetings, district professional learning, events, and serve on staff committees when required or requested to do so under reasonable terms.
** SELECTION CRITERIA
** Applicants who meet the minimum qualifications will be included in further evaluation. Interviews will be limited to those applicants who, in addition to meeting the basic requirements, have experience and education which most closely match the position qualifications and the needs of the school system
** EMPLOYMENT INFORMATION
** Make provisions for being available to students and families for education-related purposes outside the instructional day when required or requested to do so under reasonable terms.

Plan and collaborate with co-teachers including special education and ESOL educators. Appraise his/her own effectiveness and demonstrate successful application of skills and information acquired to increase effectiveness.
** Compensation** : . Actual placement will be in accordance with the salary procedures of the Howard County Public School System and the HCEA Master Agreement which considers relevant prior experience. Under the Fair Labor Standards Act, this position is exempt from overtime.

** Pre-Employment Requirements** :

All employees, regular and temporary, must be fingerprinted, have a criminal background investigation completed, and successfully complete the Maryland Employment History Review, pursuant to Section 6-113.2 of the Education Article, Annotated Code of Maryland. In addition, some positions will require completion of a physical examination and/or drug testing.
