Senior Instructional Technology Specialist

Job Summary

Senior Instructional Technology Specialist in the University of Maryland School of Dentistry (UMSOD). This position supports faculty, staff, and students with our online education program and provides assistance with assessments.

UMB is a public university and constituent institution of the University System of Maryland. All employees are expected to work primarily physically within the State of Maryland.

• Develop instructional materials using a variety of available technologies, such as digital images/audio, PowerPoint and other presentation software, enterprise learning applications, and distance learning (DL) technologies, such as satellite television and IP audio and video over the internet. Support staff in instructional design projects and provide direction to faculty, staff, and students in the use of learning applications.
• Develop online, web-based, interactive learning applications.
• Design and conduct formal presentations on the use of specific technology.
• Provide guidance and direction in the use of audio/visual, multimedia, video production, and IT equipment as appropriate.
• Collaborate with departmental staff in the design and customization of curriculum and assist in the development of training plans and blended learning implementation strategies.
• Develop multimedia materials and eLearning applications for staff use.
• Plan the acquisition and implementation of new instructional technologies.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Bachelor's degree in a related field, such as Graphic or Instructional Design. Master's degree preferred.

Three (3) years of related experience which includes proficiency with audio/visual, multimedia, video production, or IT resources.

Except for qualifications established by law, additional related experience and formal education in which one has gained the knowledge, skills, and abilities required for full performance of the work of the job class may be substituted for the education or experience requirement on a year-for-year basis with 30 undergraduate college credits being equivalent to one year of related experience. In instances where specific education and/or experience is required only directly related education and/or experience may be substituted.

Ability to effectively communicate both verbal and written thoughts, ideas, and facts. Ability to work cooperatively with others and independently. $80,000 - $94,000, commensurate with education and experience.
