City Neighbors Foundation operates three progressive, arts-integrated, project-based public charter schools in Baltimore, Maryland, serving approximately 900 students across grade levels K-12. The schools include City Neighbors Charter School, City Neighbors Hamilton, and City Neighbors High School. The foundation is dedicated to advancing child-centered, equitable, and democratic education practices through initiatives such as the annual Progressive Education Summit, DIY professional development sessions, and ongoing advocacy efforts.

City Neighbors also engages in consulting with schools and fostering community and educational partnerships to promote progressive education principles.

Role Description

This full-time role is based on-site at City Neighbors High School in Baltimore, MD. The Computer Science Teacher will be responsible for teaching computer science to students through innovative, project-based instructional methods. Key responsibilities include developing lesson plans, creating engaging curriculum materials, and delivering effective instruction to inspire and support student learning. The role also includes fostering a classroom environment that emphasizes creativity, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills in alignment with the school's progressive and equitable educational philosophy.

Qualifications
  • Expertise in Computer Science and Computer Science Education
  • Proficiency in creating Lesson Plans and Curriculum Development
  • Strong understanding of Mathematics concepts, especially as they apply to computer science
  • Ability to engage students using creative and project-based teaching methods
  • Excellent communication and classroom management skills
  • Experience in progressive or arts-integrated education is a plus
  • Minimum of a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Education, or a related field
  • Teaching certification or eligibility for certification in Maryland
