Part‑time Program Leader, GEM Program Job Summary
The Girls’ Empowerment Mission(GEM) is a Living Classrooms Foundation Program that serves high school girlsfrom under-served communities by providing opportunities and growth experiences that will enable them to become independent, self-sufficient, and confident young women. Economically disadvantaged girls often have few positive rolemodels and very limited access to opportunities or education beyond what their school offers. The GEM program is designedtoaddresstheneedsofat-riskgirlswithinapositiveenvironmentthatincludescultural, recreational, social, educational, and professional opportunities, mentoring, counseling, service to others, leadership training,financial literacy, and decision-making skills.
The program currently serves 39 girls at Chesapeake High Schoolin Essex, MD and runs from September to June with a 3-day overnight summer campin July.

GEMgirls and conduct GEMactivities.
Oftenthegroups(of12-14girlseach) work together.
Eachcohorthas two designated leaders. Programming includes two evenings per month from2PM – 8PM and one weekend overnight retreat per month from Friday 2 PM until
Saturday 5 PM. Staff meetings are held one evening a month from 5PM – 7PM.
- Report to GEM Program Director.
- Attend GEM monthly staff meetings.
- Help plan, equip, and implement two weekday evening programs and one weekend retreat program each month based on GEM curricula.
- Transport students in LCF vans or rented Enterprise vans for weekend retreat programs.
- Assist in the development and successful implementation of new GEM programs.
- Record or oversee recording of accurate GEM program data (attendance, student feedback forms, etc.).
- Review and adjust curriculum as needed.
- Maintain professionalism at all times as an important representative of the Living Classrooms Foundation and the GEM program.
- Have supplies in advance for programs as needed.
- Maintain open communication with girls and their parents.
- Perform other duties as necessary for the operation of the programs, the Foundation, or as assigned by the GEM Program Director or Director of Education.
- Valid driver's license and permission to drive LCF vehicles, CJIS background check, and fingerprinting.
- Positive attitude, flexibility, and willingness to be role models and form relationships with participants.
- B.S. Degree, preferably in education, social work, or a related field; experience with teenage girls a plus.
