Job Description
The University of Maryland School of Medicine has an exciting opportunity for a Simulation Educator to join the Department of Anesthesiology. As a simulation subject matter expert, the Simulation Educator leads the design and conducts various training protocols for medical students, nurses, residents in various clinical departments, attending physicians, and other health care providers and serves as an educator and facilitator of simulation-based training and evaluation activities at the Maryland Advanced Simulation Technology Research Innovation (MASTRI) Center.
The Simulation Educator collaborates with faculty to integrate simulation training into established training programs, and manages projects with the overall goals of the Center and ensures that the plans for achieving these goals run smoothly. Leads all clinical learning lab and simulated patient care learning experiences with appropriate resources to successfully complete learning opportunities in simulated patient care environment.

Primary Duties- Develop and design simulation training course content and curriculum. Develop and execute training scenarios relevant to emergency codes, CPR, BLS, ACLS, sentinel events, resident orientation, surgical and medical skills, triage and team training and other EMS and in-hospital training needs.
- Collaborate with physicians, faculty educators and other stakeholders on the development and delivery of simulation activities to integrate equipment into the learning strategies and assessment processes.
- Collaborate with faculty, educators and physicians.
- Understand the use and operation of different simulator technologies ranging from anatomic models and task trainers to screen-based simulation and full body patient simulators and virtual reality surgical simulators.
- Teach and instruct faculty, staff and students on the use of simulation. Maintain proficiency in existing and emerging technologies, and participate in technology training and attend conferences to stay current with simulation technology.
- Contribute to the development of policies, procedures and practices.
- May supervise other simulation training staff and/or administrative personnel related to the simulation training unit.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Education: Bachelor's degree in clinical education, nursing, health sciences, technology or clinically related field.
Preferred Education: Master's degree in nursing or other clinical related field.
Experience: Five (5) years of experience in a field related to the simulation with at least two (2) years in clinical education.
Supervisory
Experience:
One (1) year in work coordination, training, and daily oversight of staff, students, or volunteers preferred.
Certification/Licensure: Certified Healthcare Simulation Educator (CHSE) certification or Certified Healthcare Simulation Operation Specialist (CHSOS) preferred. Active registration and licensure in a related healthcare field may be required for physicians and nurses.
