Overview
The Department of Economics at Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, Maryland seeks faculty candidates beginning in Fall 2026. We invite faculty for all ranks and all areas of specialization and will likely prioritize candidates for two endowed positions: the Aronson Family Professorship in Economics (healthcare economics and healthcare policy, or the economics of cities) and the Steven M. Kaye Professor of Economics (health economics, urban economics, the economics of inequality, labor economics, or public economics more generally).
ExpectationsAll appointees at the Associate and Full Professor level are expected to be preeminent experts in their field, while appointees at the Assistant Professor level should be on the trajectory to become leaders in their fields. All candidates should be committed to both research and teaching excellence. All appointees are expected to teach at the undergraduate and graduate level.

Salary and benefitsThe expected academic base salary range for an Assistant Professor position is: $184,500 - $209,000. The salary range is based on Johns Hopkins University s good faith belief at posting time. The actual compensation offered may vary and will be based on factors including experience, field, location, internal equity, external market conditions, and other factors as reasonably determined by the University.
