To provide advisement for Data Analytics and Visualization (DAV) graduate students and to convey knowledge and guidance from a professional perspective over the course of the program. This position will lead group advisement sessions with students, which take place between their for-credit courses (approx. once every 8 weeks). During these sessions the capstone advisor will lead workshop-style activities and discussions designed to support students as they develop their capstone projects (approx.

2 hours/group session). The capstone advisor will also be available to mentor or meet with students occasionally outside of the advisement sessions (approx. 1 hour/week total). The capstone advisor serves students for the 15‑month duration of the program.

• Knowledge of Data Analysis and Visualization subject matter.

  • Foundations of Data Analytics and Treasure

  • Statistics and Analysis I

  • Statistics and Analysis II

  • Visual Storytelling I

  Visual Storysome II

• Design Lab:
  The Industry Challenge

• Education:
  
  Bachelor's degree in a related field with proven/relevant experience.

• Masters degree in a related field with proven/relevant experience.

• Alumni of the DAV program.

• Passing of a satisfactory background check.

• Physical Demands:
  While performing the duties of the job, the employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, sit, use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls, reach with hands and arms, balance, stoop, talk or hear. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

• Work environment:
  While performing the duties of the job, the employee is exposed to weather conditions prevalent at the time. The noise level in the work environment is usually minimal to moderate.
