OverviewThe Assistant Teacher I will support teachers who serve a varied population of students with typical and neuro-diverse abilities in the Center for Autism Services, Science and Innovation. The incumbent assists with the implementation of the program as outlined and with adapting instruction that meets the individual academic, medical, developmental, and technological needs of the students.
Responsibilities- Assist supervising teacher with the implementation of instruction and evaluation aspects of the classroom in accordance with students’ individualized plans using effective strategies for academic and behavioral success.
- Complete instructional-related duties as assigned by supervising teacher and administrators.
- Provide instruction, supervision, and classroom management under the direction of the supervising teacher.
- Implement behavioral protocols and assignments for students during instructional and non-instructional times.
- Utilize non-instructional time to accomplish job duties and approved (by supervising teacher and/or manager) job-related activities that are central to the program’s implementation of high quality early childhood educational instruction. This includes, but is not limited to, planning and creating instructional materials, entering data, organizing materials, and engaging in professional development.
- Participate in and contribute to in-service training and staff meetings.
- Provide support and leadership for curricular and extra-curricular activities that support student-life and promote a positive school experience.
- Assist with the implementation of technology in instructional design and delivery in accordance with supervising teacher’s directions.
CPR Certification: Must possess and maintain cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) certification according to the timeline established by the department.
Education: Associate’s degree or completion of two years of college equivalence required.
Experience:
- Previous experience in a classroom working with students with disabilities preferred.
- Experience with pediatric population preferred.
USD $17.76/Hr.
