We are seeking a Learning Specialist to join Howard University’s Student‑Athlete Support Services team.
Job PurposeThis is a managerial position responsible for directing a service-oriented and comprehensive academic program for all assigned student‑athletes to ensure compliance with NCAA, conference, and university rules, policies and regulations.
Principal Accountabilities- Assists coaches, student‑athletes, and recruits with university requirements and individual program requirements, including applicability of transfer credits, in a timely and professional manner.
- Monitors progress toward degree requirements and continuing eligibility for assigned student‑athletes.
- Assists with submitting NCAA waivers and appeals.
- Organizes study hall for all student‑athletes and creates daily study hall reports and weekly progress reports for the assigned coaching staff.
- Coordinates and monitors priority registration for student‑athletes.
- Assists with academic planning and enrollment for summer school and fifth‑year programs.
- Maintains a viable working relationship with athletic administrators, coaches, faculty, university support staff, and parents by contacting and interacting frequently with academic advisors and student service departments to access the academic progress/status of the student‑athletes.
- Participates in continued education, professional development, and training, including active participation in NCAA-sponsored seminars, conference meetings, applicable conventions and academic services education.
Reports to the Assistant Director for Student‑Athlete Support Services.
Minimum Requirements- Bachelor’s degree required.
$42,000 - $55,000
