About KIPP Baltimore

KIPP Public Schools is a non‑profit network of college‑preparatory charter schools serving elementary, middle, and high‑school students in Baltimore City. KIPP Baltimore was founded in 2002 and now operates two schools—KIPP Ujima Village Academy middle school and KIPP Harmony Academy—serving more than 1,500 kindergarten‑through‑eighth‑grade students each day. Our mission is to create joyful, academically excellent schools that prepare students with the skills and confidence to pursue college, career, and beyond.

Job Description
  • Access coverage plans on Google Classrooms.
  • Meet with teachers prior to covering their class to review the agenda when possible.
  • Follow school‑wide expectations for management and behavior to maintain a safe and affirming student culture.
  • Deliver instruction as outlined by teacher plans.
  • Collect and save student work to return to the absent teacher.
  • Communicate with parents when necessary, providing positive and critical feedback.
  • Support timely transitions by monitoring students in hallways and walking classes to and from lunch/recess.
  • Observe in classrooms, attend planning and content meetings, and plan with mentor teachers on days when not covering.
  • Monitor halls and support common spaces, lunch/recess, and arrival/dismissal.
  • Attend all Professional Development sessions during summer and summer school, beginning in August.
  • Attend content and team meetings as instructed.
  • Participate in arrival and dismissal duty.
Qualifications
  • 30 college credits;
    Associate’s degree or equivalent experience.
  • Ability to build strong relationships with students and families.
  • Unquestioned integrity and commitment to KIPP Baltimore’s mission.
  • Professional demeanor and strong self‑confidence.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Flexibility and adaptability.
  • Strong judgment and decision‑making.
  • Exceptional organizational skills.

Additional Information

Compensation is $19.53/hour with a full benefits package.
