We are seeing a Academic Advisor who will serve as primary academic contact for - graduate students in the full-time Master of Public Health Program including MPH/JD, MPH/MSW, IIHMR and GPMR/OMR cohorts. KAcademic Advisor who will serve as primary academic contact for - graduate students in the full-time Master of Public Health Program including MPH/JD, MPH/MSW, IIHMR and GPMR/OMR cohorts. Key liaison between faculty advisors and students.

Conveys academic content of public health core competencies to both prospective and current students. Monitors academic progress of MPH students from matriculation through degree completion.

Specific Duties & Responsibilities

  • Academic Advising o Key contact for full-time students through the entire cycle i.e., recruitment, matriculation, retention, and graduation.
  • Communicate the curriculum with a broad understanding of public health core competencies to prospective and current MPH students.
  • Interpret and communicate academic policies and procedures to current and prospective students.
  • Provide academic advising for international students within the program and liaise with the International Student Office in working with visa issues and completing visa related forms.
  • Advise prospective students, participate in web chat sessions, and workshops with substantive knowledge in public health career options.
  • Communicate key academic and
    -degree related information during advising sessions.
  • Provide advising and support to students experiencing academic difficulties including those on academic warning.
  • Knowledgeable and able to triage questions from prospective and current students about their educational and career goals in public health.
  • Faculty Liaison o Key liaison between MPH Executive Board members, Concentration Directors, faculty advisors and students - with a broad understanding of the content areas of the concentrations and academic departments.
  • Communicate academic and program policies to faculty.
  • Identify common themes and issues among the students to bring to the attention of the MPH Faculty Executive Board.
  • Orientation o Assists in the management of MPH Program Orientation for the incoming students.
  • Advise students on preparing for Orientation, coursework, and logistics associated with the program.
  • Develops online pre-orientation introductory FT MPH program Course Plus site.
  • Develops and maintains student program manual.
  • Records/Administration o Develop, implement, and monitor systems that track the academic progress of students.
  • Create reports and presentation data on academic status of students.
  • Manage list serve for full time students to publicize events and provide critical information for the student body.
  • Provide leadership and support for MPH special events including orientations, symposiums, seminars and workshops.
  • Responsible for completing graduation audits and submitting the graduation approval list in conjunction with the Records Office.
  • Work closely with other offices.
