Position Summary: LTYC is seeking a creative and enthusiastic Beauty(Fashion/Cosmetology) Instructor to introduce elementary and middle school students to the world of cosmetology, fashion, and personal care
. The ideal candidate will inspire students to express themselves through style, grooming, and self-care in a developmentally appropriate, inclusive, and empowering environment.
This is an independent contractor position and not an employee role.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and teach engaging lessons in beginner-friendly beauty topics such as skincare, hairstyling, nail care, fashion design, and grooming.
  • Introduce students to the history and cultural relevance of beauty and fashion across communities.
  • Promote creativity, self-expression, and confidence while reinforcing age-appropriate hygiene and personal care.
  • Guide students in hands-on activities like nail art, basic hairstyling, accessorizing, wardrobe styling, and simple sewing or design projects.
  • Emphasize positive self-image, etiquette, and personal presentation in a supportive classroom environment.
  • Ensure safe use of all materials and tools; teach basic sanitation and care procedures.
  • Collaborate with other educators for cross-disciplinary events such as fashion shows, showcases, or career days.
  • Maintain an organized and clean instructional space.
Requirements

Qualifications:

  • Professional background in cosmetology, fashion design, beauty education, or a related field.
  • At least 3 years of prior experience teaching beauty (fashion/cosmetology) to children, ideally in an elementary or middle school setting.
  • Strong classroom management skills and a student-centered teaching approach.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to adapt lessons for different age groups and learning styles.
  • Passion for the arts and a commitment to nurturing creativity in young learners.

Additional Requirements:

  • Independent Contractor Agreement: Must be signed upon acceptance.
  • References: Three professional references required, including at least one from a previous position working with children.
  • Transportation: Must have reliable transportation to and from school site(s).
  • Certifications:
  • Valid CPR & First Aid certification.
  • Proof of educational background and professional certifications (if applicable).
  • Health Clearance:
  • A letter from a physician confirming candidate is in good health
    , free from communicable diseases (including TB).

Must provide a current background check from CJIS (including state, federal, and childcare clearance).
