Position: Academic Advisor I, ESOL -Part Time
Class Description
The purpose of this class is to perform complex administrative work supporting the ESOL intake and assessment process.
Minimum Requirements Bachelor's degree and one year full time or two years of part time experience in education, counseling, vocational rehabilitation, academic testing, admissions, or another relevant high-volume, student services department. Including experience related to Must meet program administration qualifications as required by Maryland's Department of Labor, Licensing, and Regulation's (DLLR) Consolidated Adult Education and Family Literacy grant within 30 days of hire.
Must remained test certified during duration of employment. Prior experience with administration of standardized assessment and/or computer based testing programs (CASAS or TABE preferred).
Positions are located on multiple campuses:
Essex, Dundalk, Catonsville, Owings Mills
Class Specific Essential Duties
Coordinate aspects of standardized placement testing and course placement aligned with guidelines of the Center for Adult and Family Literacy (CAFL).Maintain and enforce the test administration regulations and Department of Labor, Licensing, and Regulation's (DLLR) grant requirements as they relate to exam security, FERPA compliance, ADA accessibility, and the CCBC Student Code of Conduct.Supervise the administration of grant-funded assessment tests (Comprehensive Adult Student Assessment System (CASAS) or Test of Adult Basic Education (TABE) aligned with test administration and DLLR requirements.Recognize National Reporting System (NRS) educational functioning levels (EFLs) and apply knowledge of EFLs to student advisement for DLLR grant-funded courses.Advise learners on adult basic skill levels, barriers to success, and goal setting. Advise on proper course placement aligned with academic levels and course availability. Apply culturally responsive knowledge and coaching strategies to student interactions.Maintain test administration certification and attend registration team meetings as scheduled.Essential Job Duties are intended to be examples of duties and are not intended to be all inclusive.
