Overview
General Description The Wilmer Eye Institute at Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine is seeking an optometrist to join the Wilmer Eye Institute's comprehensive eye care division. This individual will work independently to provide primary ocular evaluations for patients at Wilmer Eye Institute's outpatient clinic location in Bethesda, MD.
Comprehensive care providers perform vision and medical eye exams within the bounds of individual licensure and Maryland's legal scope of practice. Common encounters include diabetic eye examinations; evaluation of dry eye disease, cataracts, and stable glaucoma;
Plaquenil screenings; triage of urgent eye or vision concerns; and co-management of postoperative patients. On-site referral/consultation for patients requiring surgical or advanced subspecialist care in glaucoma, retina, cornea, neuro-ophthalmology, oculoplastics, and low vision rehabilitation. Vision care services include prescription of glasses and soft contact lenses, with the opportunity to build a practice in specialty therapeutic contact lenses. An on-site optical is available with a team of licensed opticians and high-quality materials.

The following salary and compensation information provides context for applicants. The referenced salary range reflects base pay, which is based on faculty rank and years in rank. This salary range does not include all components of the Department of Ophthalmology faculty compensation program or pay from participation in the Department of Ophthalmology incentive compensation programs. Therefore, the actual compensation paid to the selected candidate may vary from the salary range stated herein.

- Successful completion of an accredited optometry residency program, or minimum of three (3) years of experience in an ophthalmology practice setting.
Education
- Graduation from an accredited school of Optometry required.
- License in good standing in State of Maryland required.
- National Provider Identification (NPI) required.
