The Education Employment Specialist (EES) collects data for all participants in the Bureau of Justice Assistance (BJA) grant‑funded programs, keeping detailed records for Higher Education and Occupational Training initiatives. The EES develops Employment and Education Plans for participants, identifies resources, coordinates with institutional staff, community agencies, and collateral organizations, and provides post‑release follow‑up and wrap‑around services—including housing, employment, education, transportation, recreation, health, and religious/spiritual resources—to support successful program completion.

• Compile statistical data; maintain detailed records for BJA Grant and DPSCS Education and Employment project reports.
• Provide direct service delivery and client support; engage students and continue services.
• Coordinate and oversee student and community engagement activities.
• Participate in program development and oversight; collaborate with administrative staff to plan, establish, and modify EES services to meet grant requirements.
• Complete required EES training; travel to various sites to connect with participants as needed.

• High school graduation or equivalency; or 30 college credit hours may substitute for required experience.
• One year of administrative or professional work experience; military service as a commissioned officer may substitute for experience if it involved independent judgment, analysis, and improvement recommendations.

• One year of experience in education‑related services, community service, social service, or human relations.

Classified employees may be required to operate a motor vehicle; a valid Maryland driver’s license is required.

Contractual employees under the State Employee and Retiree Health and Welfare Benefits Program may be eligible for subsidized health coverage (employer pays 25% of premiums, state pays remaining 75%) for themselves and dependents. Employees may elect additional coverage for dental, accidental death, dismemberment, and life insurance, reimbursing the full premium. Leave accrues at a rate of 1 hour per 30 hours worked, not to exceed 40 hours per calendar year.
