We’re currently seeking a highly motivated Civil Inspector located in Baltimore, MD.
Position OverviewThe Civil Inspector is responsible for monitoring and inspecting civil construction activities associated with airport infrastructure, airfield improvements, roadway systems, utilities, and site development projects. This role supports the Construction Management and Inspection team by ensuring that civil construction work is performed in accordance with approved plans, specifications, applicable codes, and project quality standards.
The Civil Inspector works closely with the Project Manager, Resident Engineer, contractors, and design consultants to verify that civil construction elements are properly installed and meet project requirements. The position requires extensive experience in civil construction inspection within active commercial airports or large industrial facilities where coordination with operations and multiple construction trades is essential.
Required Education- High School Diploma
Inspection staff assigned to this role must possess a minimum of one of the following relevant credentials
- Licensed Professional Engineer
- NICET Level 3 or higher certification in the relevant civil inspection field
- International Code Council certification in the relevant inspection field
- Other recognized civil construction inspection certifications applicable to the project scope
In order to become a candidate, you must possess the following skills and abilities.
- Minimum of 10 years of experience as a Civil Inspector at a medium to large commercial airport or large industrial facility.
- Demonstrated experience inspecting civil construction activities including site work, grading, drainage systems, paving, utilities, and airfield infrastructure.
- Strong ability to interpret civil engineering drawings, plans, and technical specifications.
- Experience working in complex construction environments with multiple contractors and active operational constraints.

- Inspect civil construction activities to ensure compliance with approved construction documents, engineering specifications, and applicable regulatory standards.
- Monitor contractor installation of civil infrastructure including grading, earthwork, drainage systems, utilities, paving systems, and site improvements.
- Inspect construction of roadways, parking areas, sidewalks, and other surface infrastructure associated with airport facilities.
- Verify installation of underground utilities including storm drainage systems, sanitary sewer systems, water lines, and other utility infrastructure.
- Observe excavation, trenching, backfill operations, and compaction procedures to ensure compliance with project specifications.
- Verify that materials used in construction including aggregates, asphalt, concrete, and piping materials meet approved specifications and submittals.
- Observe and document testing activities such as soil compaction testing, concrete testing, and pavement quality testing.
- Coordinate with the Resident Engineer and Construction Management team to identify deficiencies, nonconforming work, or potential construction conflicts.
- Participate in construction coordination meetings and project progress meetings as required.
- Document inspection activities through daily reports, inspection logs, and photographic records.
- Assist with punchlist inspections and final acceptance of civil construction work.
- Maintain accurate documentation and records of civil inspection activities to support project quality assurance procedures.
