MEP Construction Lead | South Atlantic US
Position Summary:
The Electrical Foreman leads on‑site electrical construction activities to ensure work meets quality, code, and safety standards. The role coordinates labor, materials, and inspections and partners closely with the Project Manager to deliver scope, schedule, and project objectives. The Foreman holds fiduciary responsibility for assigned projects and leads teams with integrity and honesty.
Key Responsibility Areas (KRAs)- Run entire projects or major sections of large jobs; set daily priorities and sequencing.
- Assign tasks with clearly defined deliverables; hold crews accountable for workmanship and production.
- Accurately predict and manage project resources to meet deadlines and budget.
- Lead, coach, and develop apprentices and crew members; reinforce expectations and correct performance issues.
- Ensure all crew members perform job duties accurately; complete evaluation forms and warning notices when required.
- Promote and enforce safety culture on site.
- Reinforce PPE use and safe work practices at all times; run/ensure completion of required toolbox talks.
- Document safety violations; complete write‑ups, obtain employee signature, and route per process (PM/Office Manager/Safety).
- Maintain additional PPE inventory on project: gloves, safety glasses, lockout/tagout kit, and at least one spare hard hat and high‑vis vest.
- Review and understand all construction drawings and updates; plan work to match.
- Monitor and manage the General Contractor’s schedule and constraints impacting field progress; elevate risks early.
- Plan and order necessary materials at least one week in advance.
- Manage vendor/supplier deliveries; keep and organize packing slips for end‑of‑job returns.
- Complete and submit daily reports, inspection/AHJ documentation, weekly timesheets, and weekly toolbox talks accurately and on time.
- Document delays caused by others for potential change orders.
- Complete additional work tickets: obtain GC Superintendent signature at completion and send to PM within 24 hours; support pricing turnaround expectations.
- Ensure all electrical installations comply with NEC (2020 reference as used by the company), local AHJ codes, and project specifications.
- Schedule and confirm inspections (including coordination per company process, e.g., Breeze) and communicate results to the Project Manager.
- If inspections fail, correct deficiencies promptly and coordinate re‑inspections to complete and maintain accurate as‑built drawings throughout the project electronically (Procore/Bluebeam) or via marked‑up hard copy when needed.
- Complete Pre‑Final Checklists (PFCs) to prepare for inspections and turnover.
- Work with the Project Manager to complete lighting field dimensions (Field Dims) using provided forms.
- 7+ years of progressive electrical construction experience, including leadership of crews and field coordination responsibilities.
- Strong understanding of the National Electrical Code (NEC) and local AHJ requirements.
