Main Purpose of Job
This position is an executive-level administrative support to the Office of the Executive Director (calendar management, executive correspondence, meeting coordination, confidential communications, and Microsoft Office proficiency). The main purpose of this full-time contractual Executive Assistant position will be to serve as the primary administrative and operational support to the Executive Director of the Maryland Board of Professional Counselors and Therapists. This position will function as a confidential executive-level support role responsible for coordinating executive operations, managing high-level communications, supporting Board governance activities, assisting with legislative and regulatory tracking, and ensuring the efficient functioning of the Executive Director's Office.
This position will also directly support the Board's public protection mission by ensuring executive workflow efficiency, facilitating Board member coordination, preparing materials for Board and committee meetings, supporting special initiatives, and maintaining the integrity and confidentiality of executive-level communications and records. In addition, this position will exercise discretion, sound judgment, and independent initiative.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education:
Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate.
Experience:
One year of experience performing administrative staff, clerical, clerical technical, or secretarial work. Notes:
1. Candidates may substitute 30 credit hours from an accredited college or university for the required experience.
2. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a non-commissioned officer involving staff work requiring regular use of independent judgment and analysis in applying and interpreting rules and regulations in accordance with agency laws and policies on a year-for-year basis for the required experience.
DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
The desired candidate should possess: Experience providing direct administrative support to senior leadership or executive-level management.
Experience with and/or knowledge of Maryland State government operations, regulatory boards, or health occupations statutes. Experience coordinating board or committee meetings and preparing official minutes or briefing materials. Strong written communication skills with the ability to draft executive correspondence and formal memoranda. Experience handling confidential and sensitive information with discretion. Experience and advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint) and document management systems.
Experience tracking legislative or regulatory developments. Strong organizational skills with demonstrated ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced regulatory environment.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
Candidates may be responsible for providing their own transportation as needed to access meetings, remote locations, and job destinations as assigned.

BENEFITS
Contractual employees who work for an agency covered under the State Employee and Retiree Health and Welfare Benefits Program, have a current employment contract and work 30 or more hours a week (or on average 130 hours per month) may be eligible for subsidized health benefits coverage for themselves and their dependents. As a contractual employee, you will be responsible for paying 25% of the premiums for your medical and prescription coverage, including any eligible dependents you have enrolled.
