Essential Job FunctionsThe Senior Judiciary Clerk is a hybrid position performing both Judiciary Clerk (Case processing) and Courtroom Clerk duties and responsibilities on a continuous basis for Baltimore City Circuit Court. The incumbent is required to have knowledge of case management, courtroom protocols, and procedures to assist Judges or Magistrates with daily docket. Work is performed under moderate supervision.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities- Greets and assists the public and courthouse stakeholders (court related personnel) by responding to inquiries regarding the proper completion of various court related event scheduling forms and information regarding court policies and procedures / protocols (Felony and Misdemeanor Reception Court Session building initiatives).
- Performs daily case processing and clerical work including data entry for adults and juveniles charged as adult criminal matters; and provide in-person and telephonic as well as electronic mail services to courthouse stakeholders and members of the public.
- Prepares, maintains and updates electronic resource dockets and ensures that Dockets for all Parts (Judges) meet all the established protocols and do not exceed the set maximum number of cases for each day.
- Participates in Felony and Misdemeanor Reception Court sessions and provides essential support in the courtroom for the Judge in charge of criminal matters in relation to maintaining accurate record of finding good cause for postponements and reasons for postponements.
- Updates General Trial Calendar, Criminal Calendar / assigns cases processed by the Judge in charge of criminal matters and the Judge’s law clerk.
- Liaises with Criminal Division staff and Courtroom Clerk’s staff to align with accurate court session scheduling / rescheduling of hearing/trial dates.
- Education: High school diploma (or GED equivalent)
- Experience: Two (2) years of work experience, to include one (1) year in court operations or in the fields of criminal justice, parole and probation, legal or financial services.
- Note: A bachelor’s degree may substitute the required work experience.
- A Paralegal /associate degree or 60 college credits may substitute the required work experience.
- Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities: A paralegal certificate may substitute the required work experience.

- Basic English and arithmetic to include, but not limited to, spelling, punctuation, addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.

- Use standard office and business equipment including, but not limited to, personal computers, word processing, spreadsheets, database software, copier, scanner, etc.
- Use and maintain alphabetical and numerical electronic filing systems.
- Communicate clearly, tactfully, and effectively with judges, the public, police agencies, attorneys, and other court officials and personnel, both verbally and in writing.
