Unit Clerk (NCS) - Mayor's Office of Employment Development
Position located in the City of Baltimore. Salary range: $15.00 - $28.80 hourly; starting pay: $19.00 hourly.
Job SummaryThis service delivery position provides direct support to a Youth Works unit with approximately 30-50 worksites and 500-700 youth participants. Duties are performed under MOED supervision and follow COB and MOED policies.
Essential Functions (Responsibilities)- Answer, screen, and direct calls to the appropriate person or unit.
- Commute to worksite partner locations to conduct site visits ensuring a safe youth employment environment.
- Assist youth and worksites with Youth Works application, registration sessions, and community events.
- Complete end‑of‑summer worksite activity review forms.
- Communicate Youth Works policies and procedures to youth participants, worksites, and stakeholders.
- Process and approve timesheet records for youth participants.
- Organize, file, and scan documents to worksite folders and the Youth Works system; ensure e‑folders meet audit guidelines.
- Maintain accurate data entry and daily work logs; run reports and review records for quality.
- Assist with assigning youth to worksites and verify hours worked.
- Investigate, document, and resolve payroll and worksite concerns.
- Assist in preparing, distributing materials for worksites, youth, and summer staff.
- Coordinate and facilitate Youth Works program events.
- Operate office equipment such as telephone system, copiers, scanner, and computers.
- Inventory office supplies; assist with setup and breakdown of materials.
- Represent the Agency with integrity and customer‑service philosophy.
- Perform other related assignments as directed.
- High school diploma or GED equivalent.
- At least 1 year of customer service experience; three years in a human services field working with youth programs.
- Pass a mandatory criminal background check.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable personal vehicle; willing to use the vehicle daily for assigned duties.
- Work in‑person from 8:30 am to 4:30 pm Monday to Friday; flexibility for some evening and weekend hours.
- Must upload a copy of valid driver’s license at time of application.
- Review and process large volumes of data to meet daily quotas.
- Work efficiently in a fast‑paced environment.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office, Google Suite, and virtual communication platforms (Zoom, Google Meet, Teams).
- Strong data entry, time‑management, and verbal/written communication skills.
- Detail‑oriented with analytical skills and ability to maintain confidentiality.
- Capacity to evaluate service delivery issues and identify resolution.
Eligible candidates for positions of trust must complete a Criminal Background Check and/or Fingerprint authorization. All selected candidates must complete a mandatory six‑month probation.
