Sr. Accountant

Description

We are looking for a Senior Accountant to join our team in Baltimore, Maryland. This is a Contract to permanent position within the insurance industry, offering an excellent opportunity to contribute your accounting expertise while advancing your career. The ideal candidate will have strong analytical skills and a solid understanding of financial processes to support various accounting operations effectively.

Responsibilities:

- Assist accounting staff with daily activities, ensuring accuracy and compliance.

- Prepare and upload reports to financial platforms.

- Handle tax deposits, transfer requests, and manage voided transactions in accounting systems.

- Prepare annual reports for external auditors and support year-end tax reporting.

- Conduct monthly reconciliations and entries along with annual reconciliations.

- Provide support for internal audits, addressing inquiries related to monthly close reporting.

- Prepare schedules and documentation for external audits.

Requirements

- Minimum of 3 years of accounting experience in a detail-oriented environment.

- Proficiency in month-end close procedures and financial reporting.

- Strong knowledge of general ledger accounting and journal entries.

- Expertise in account reconciliations, including bank reconciliations.

- Ability to prepare accurate tax deposits and year-end tax reports.

- Experience with external audits.

- Skilled in handling reconciliations.

- Excellent organizational and communication skills to collaborate across departments.
