We are seeking a detail-oriented Staff Accountant to support the day-to-day accounting operations of a growing private equity firm. This role will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, supporting monthly close, and assisting with fund and management company accounting. The ideal candidate is organized, analytical, and comfortable working in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
Key Responsibilities- Prepare and record journal entries for management company and fund entities
- Assist with monthly, quarterly, and year-end close processes
- Perform account reconciliations, including cash, prepaid expenses, accruals, and intercompany accounts
- Support fund accounting activities, including capital calls, distributions, and investor allocations
- Assist with financial statement preparation and variance analysis
- Coordinate with third-party administrators, auditors, and tax advisors
- Maintain supporting schedules and documentation for audits and tax filings
- Ensure compliance with GAAP and internal accounting policies
- Assist with ad hoc accounting projects and process improvements as needed
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- 1–3 years of accounting experience (public accounting or financial services experience a plus)
- Exposure to private equity, investment management, or fund accounting preferred
- Strong understanding of accounting principles (GAAP)
- Proficiency in Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, formulas)
- Experience with accounting systems (e.g., Quick Books, Net Suite, or similar) preferred
- Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities
- CPA or CPA-track preferred
- Experience working with multiple entities and complex ownership structures
- Comfortable handling confidential financial information
- Strong communication and organizational skills
- Exposure to private equity and investment operations
