Miles & Stockbridge is seeking a Controller in our Baltimore, MD office. As part of our Finance Department, the Controller will be responsible for overseeing Accounting Operations. This position is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Accountant who enjoys contributing to strategic financial initiatives, leading process improvements, and mentoring teams.

• Manage Accounting Managers who supervise the following teams:
  Billing;
  Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Payroll;
  Collections.
• Maintain relationships with Attorneys to ensure timely billing.
• Manage the outsourced collections team to ensure Attorneys and clients are actively participating in collection efforts.
• Review bi-monthly payment runs and sign checks.
• Manage the accounting control environment.
• Review payroll as needed.
• Handle personnel related issues.
• Manage the monthly close process.
• Review monthly reconciliations.
• Review monthly journal entries.
• Develop and track expectations for all roles.

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting; CPA preferred.
• Proficient in Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Payroll, and General Ledger processes.
• Strong expertise in accounting principles, financial reporting, and applicable regulations.
• Advanced knowledge of accounting systems and business intelligence tools.
• Skilled in MS Office (Excel, Word) and LMS software.
• Experience managing large teams.
• Excellent organizational and time management skills.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to prioritize multiple tasks.
• Adaptable to fast-paced, changing work environments.
• Self-motivated with the ability to work independently.
• Effective oral and written communication skills.
• Collaborative and team-oriented mindset.

The pay range for this position is $190,000 - $240,000.

While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly required to remain in a stationary position or sit for prolonged periods and repeat motions that may include the wrists, hands and/or fingers.
