Oakridge Care Home, located on the Magheraknock Road in Ballynahinch, caters for up to 65 residents across 3 units; general nursing, EMI and residential.
AboutThe Role
As a Maintenance Person, you will ensure the home remains safe, well-maintained and comfortable for residents, colleagues and visitors. Your work will involve general maintenance tasks, identifying and resolving issues and carrying out regular checks on fire alarms and safety equipment. You will be responsible for maintaining accurate records of maintenance work, performing painting and decorating as needed and ensuring outdoor areas are well-kept through gardening and upkeep.
Your role will also involve essential seasonal tasks such as cleaning guttering and clearing snow or salting pathways to ensure safe access throughout the year.
- Perform general maintenance tasks and identify and resolve issues to keep the home safe and well-maintained.
- Carry out regular checks on fire alarms and safety equipment; maintain accurate records of maintenance work.
- Paint and decorate as needed; maintain outdoor areas through gardening and upkeep.
- Complete seasonal tasks such as cleaning guttering and clearing snow or salting pathways for safe access.
- A compassionate, understanding and positive attitude to work, colleagues & residents.
- Experience in a maintenance role or relevant trade (e.g., plumbing, carpentry, electrical work or general building maintenance).
- Understanding of health and safety regulations in a care setting.
- Ability to maintain accurate records and complete routine safety checks.
- Physical fitness to carry out manual work and outdoor maintenance tasks.
- Eligibility to live and work in the UK.
- A practical, hands-on approach, attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining high safety and hygiene standards.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently while ensuring timely and effective repairs.

- Salary of £13.50 per hour (paid weekly).

- This role involves substantial access to vulnerable adults. The successful candidate will be offered the position subject to a satisfactory Enhanced Disclosure Check through Access NI. Regulated posts will also require a check of the adult barred list.
