Bus Driver/Custodian/Utility Worker

Licensed Driver Salary: $23.74/hour - $36.18/hour
Non-licensed Driver Salary: $22.73/hour - $34.64/hour
* B/C/U will have one year from date of hire to complete bus driver training and obtain a bus driver's license.*
Bus Driver/Custodian/Utility Worker
JOB SUMMARYUnder supervision, to transport students to and from school and on extra curricular activities in a safe and efficient manner, to maintain the cleanliness and orderliness of classrooms, cafeteria, offices, restrooms, hallways and yards as assigned.
REPORTS TOSupervisor of Maintenance, Operations and Transportation.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT- Eight (8) hours per day, five (5) days per week, according to current school schedules.
- Classified Salary Schedule.
Knowledge of:
- Laws and regulations related to driving a school vehicle;
- Methods, materials and equipment used in custodial work.
Ability to:
- Communicate effectively in oral and written form;
- Understand and carry out oral and written directions;
- Establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with children and adults;
- Comply with appropriate cleanliness standards, health standards;
- Comply with district Uniform Dress Policy;
- Pass the Pre-Employment Physical and drug screen;
- Possess T.B. and finger print clearance.
Experience:
- Prior experience or training working with children;
- Prior experience or training working as a custodian;
- A record of safe driving with clean DMV printout.
Education:
- High School diploma or equivalent to completion of Twelfth Grade;
- Possession of bus driver's license.
- Drive a school bus on assigned routes to carry students to and from school.
- Clean and wash busses.
- Do minor safety checks on bus.
- Issue behavior tickets, when necessary.
- Maintain adequate supervision of all bus riders.
- Repair bus when minor problems arise.
- Keep required records.
- Sweep assigned areas on a scheduled basis.
- Clean assigned equipment, sinks, counters, cabinets and window sills.
- Empty trash containers in all rooms, offices and hallways.
- Dust assigned rooms and offices on a scheduled basis.
- Mop and wax assigned rooms, offices and hallways.
- Water plants, yard and shrubbery.
- Replenish paper stock and supplies when needed.
- Report all maintenance where needed.
- Make minor repairs of equipment.
- Make provision for pupil emergencies when requested.
- Move, clean and set up furniture when requested.
- Raise and lower flags.
- Lock and unlock plant facilities; set alarms and secure campus;
- Replace light bulbs.
- Clean and maintain chalkboards.
- 5% Ability to work at a desk, conference table or in meetings of various configurations.
- 5% Ability to bend and twist, kneel and stoop, run and crawl.
- 10% Ability to hear and understand speech at normal levels.
- 10% Ability to communicate so others will be able to clearly understand normal conversation.
- 10% Ability to lift 70 lbs.
- 10% Ability to carry 60 lbs.
- 10% Ability to reach in all directions.
- 20% Ability to stand and circulate for extended periods of time.
- 20% Ability to see for purposes of reading laws and codes, rules and policies and other printed matter and observing students.
- Other related duties as assigned.
