Cashier, Restaurant​/Food Service

Description

• Greet customers, receive food orders, repeat food orders, charge the appropriate price for each menu item ordered by customers, receive the correct amount tendered by customers and provide the correct change for each transaction.
• Enact gift cards requested by customers.
• Be very familiar with and up to date with California Fish Grill Restaurant’s menu and prices.
• Interact with guests in a friendly/fast manner.
• Make corrections to customer orders in a fast and efficient manner.
• Determine counterfeit money and respond to situations involving counterfeit money.
• Assure age requirements are verified prior to serving alcoholic beverages.
• Treat all customers to ensure their complete satisfaction.
• Report to work in a neat and clean uniform. Well‑groomed hair and personal hygiene are essential.
• Keep work area neat and clean at all times.
• Clean and maintain equipment used.
• Complete requirements for in‑service training, acceptable attendance, uniform and dress codes, personal hygiene, and other work duties as assigned.

Essential

Skills:

• Properly charge the correct price for food and drink items in an effective, professional manner.
• Operate a POS.
• Operate credit card equipment.

• Maintain composure when dealing with staff and occasionally under conditions of urgency and/or pressure.
• Continuously reach, bend, lift, carry, stoop, and wipe (100%).
• Hazards include, but are not limited to, cuts, slipping, tripping, falls and burns.
• Be of legal age per State regulations to serve alcohol.
• Follow written and oral instructions and procedures as directed by the Restaurant Manager.
• Follow company policies and procedures related to job safety, including safety rules and regulations.
• Proficient reading and writing skills.
• Proficient interpersonal and communicative skills.
• Stand, reach, lift, bend, kneel, stoop, climb, push, and pull items weighing 50 lbs or less.
• Auditory and visual skills.

• High School Diploma or GED and 1–2 years related work experience, or any equivalent combination of education, training and experience that demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position.
• Prior experience in cashier or food service positions.
• Valid Serv Safe® or other approved Food Handler Certification.
• High level of integrity and honesty.

Restaurant environment. When warranted, may be required to work beyond normal working hours as needed to meet customer needs or restaurant requirements.
