RN – Correctional
Job DescriptionThe Correctional Registered Nurse provides professional nursing care to incarcerated individuals within a secure correctional facility. The RN assesses patient needs, responds to medical emergencies, administers medications, and ensures all care meets correctional healthcare and safety standards.
Responsibilities- Perform nursing assessments and triage inmate health concerns.
- Administer medications, treatments, and vaccinations as ordered.
- Respond promptly to urgent and emergent medical situations.
- Assist with chronic care management and routine sick calls.
- Document all patient care in accordance with facility and state requirements.
- Collaborate with physicians, mental health providers, and custody staff.
- Maintain strict safety, security, and infection-control protocols.
- Active RN license in the state of assignment.
- Previous correctional or acute care experience preferred.
- Current BLS certification required.
- Strong assessment, communication, and crisis-management skills.
