Heavy Equipment Mechanic - South Shop - Shift 1

The role reports to the Assistant Manager and is a full-time, non-exempt, 1st shift position with no travel requirements.

• Assist the area Lead Person in maintaining company Ag. and related equipment as required.
• Diagnose and troubleshoot needed repairs on heavy equipment.
• Work with high integrity and comply with corporate guidelines on business ethics.
• Follow company and department rules and policies.
• Work directly with Department Supervisors and Managers to accomplish project goals.
• Work productively and maintain a spirit of teamwork and cooperation.
• Complete assigned repairs in a timely manner.
• Maintain equipment and tools to ensure safe operation.
• Maintain shop and job site safety.
• Perform other duties as required.
• Report defective tools and equipment immediately to Lead / Management.
• Pickup and deliver equipment and parts to and from outside vendors.
• Operate stationary and mobile overhead cranes, forklifts, and related equipment safely.
• Perform routine maintenance on machinery and equipment.
• Test and evaluate the operation of Ag. and related equipment.
• Examine parts for defects.
• Travel out of town with overnight stays as needed.
• Operate a pilot vehicle in/out of town.
• Load Carrot Harvesters for transportation purposes.
• Perform work in field locations when required.
• Have at least 2 years of experience in agricultural equipment repair and maintenance.

• High School Diploma, GED, or one to two years of related experience, or a combination of education and experience.
• Valid California Driver’s License with a clean driving record.
• Minimum of 2 years of experience in agricultural equipment repair and maintenance.

• Punctual with an excellent attendance record.
• Able to work with minimal supervision.
• Effective communication in English.
• Apply common sense and follow written and oral instructions.
• Safety-conscious, detail-oriented, and able to plan, organize, and multitask.
• Read and understand electrical schematics.
• Knowledge of troubleshooting and repairing 12V and 24V electrical systems.
• Basic math skills.
• Knowledge of Arc/Mig welding and cutting methods.
• Experience troubleshooting hydraulic and electrical systems.
• Work well in group settings.
• Diesel engine maintenance and repair experience is a plus.

• 4 or more years of hydraulic experience, troubleshooting, repairing, and performing preventative maintenance on Ag. equipment.
• Technical school training in a related field.
• Experience in Total Process Reliability (TPR) maintenance is a plus.
• Spanish language proficiency.

• Ascend and descend ramps, steps, ladders, and stairs using a three-point contact.
• Bend, stretch, and twist reach with body, arms, and/or legs.
• Make precise coordinated finger movements for small objects.
• Work in environments with noise, dust, fumes, gases, and inclement weather.
• Occasionally expose to airborne particles and vibrations.
• Lift up to 50 pounds.
• Walk and stand for prolonged periods.
• Work on ladders, stairs, and boom lifts.

1st shift (8:00am - 4:30pm), Monday through Friday, overtime and holidays may be mandatory based on business needs.
