Network Engineer

TEKsystems is looking to hire a Network Engineer for one of our clients in Bakersfield.

• Routing & switching experience
• SD-WAN architecture or design (must have)
• Cisco Meraki
• Cisco Firepower proficiency (ideal)

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT, or related field (or equivalent experience).
• 5–8 years of experience in network engineering and administration.
• Proven ability to design, implement, and manage large‑scale enterprise networks.
• Strong background in network security, including firewall configuration and intrusion detection.
• Preferred certifications: CCNP, CCNA, CISSP, or similar.
• Expertise in advanced networking protocols and security technologies.
• Knowledge of disaster recovery strategies for network systems.
• Familiarity with change management processes in network environments.
• Demonstrated leadership in managing network projects and upgrades.
• Excellent communication skills for cross‑functional collaboration.

• Drive the creation and execution of long‑term network strategies aligned with business objectives.
• Partner with leadership to assess current and future network requirements and recommend improvements for scalability and efficiency.
• Conduct performance, capacity, and security audits of the network infrastructure.
• Stay informed on emerging networking technologies and evaluate their applicability within the organization.
• Manage procurement, installation, and configuration of enterprise‑grade networking equipment such as routers, switches, and firewalls.
• Lead major network upgrade and migration initiatives.
• Ensure all deployments adhere to organizational standards for security, scalability, and performance.
• Oversee testing and validation processes for new network solutions to confirm compliance and compatibility.
• Monitor and optimize network performance across routers, switches, and firewalls.
• Implement and enforce security measures including IDS/IPS, VPNs, and firewall policies.
• Maintain comprehensive documentation—network diagrams, security protocols, and change logs.
• Troubleshoot complex network issues and deliver advanced solutions for performance and security challenges.
• Develop and maintain disaster recovery and business continuity plans for network infrastructure.
• Provide mentorship and technical guidance to junior team members.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Bakersfield, CA.

The pay range for this position is $55.00 - $55.00/hr.

This is a fully onsite position in Bakersfield, CA.
