As an instructor with our Harvey L. Hall EMS Academy, you will teach top-notch Paramedic students in an accelerated learning environment. You will have the opportunity to guide the company’s EMTs as they learn new skills and elevate their careers.
This is an in-person, full-time, year-round position.
QUALIFICATIONS:The individual in this position must possess the following qualifications.
- Demonstrated teaching skill and experience in Paramedic Education.
- Demonstrated leadership and supervisory skills. Excellent interpersonal communication skills are a must.
- Current Paramedic licensure.
- Knowledge of all EMS Federal and State regulations and reporting requirements.
- Desire to learn and understand all rules, regulations, policies and procedures that apply to EMS

Perform as a Trainer and an Instructor of Emergency Medical Services (EMS) classes offered by the Harvey L. Hall EMS Training Academy. Plan, teach, direct, and supervise all student learning experiences in the classroom, skills lab, and clinical areas, following an approved curriculum by EMS and/or the Director of Training. Responsible for preparing all lesson plans. Ensure all courses, programs and paperwork are completed in compliance with all standards as set forth by our training academy, AHA, NAEMT, NREMT, and any state, county, and federal mandates.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:- Responsible for teaching Paramedic courses, CPR, ACLS, PHTLS, PALS courses and assist where needed.
- Maintain currency with and provide annual EMS Updates (County, State, and Federal).
- Teach Paramedic refresher courses as needed
- Provide BLS and ALS Continuing Education courses
- NREMT required written and skills testing
- Organize, teach, and manage Paramedic Preparation Courses
- Possess a comprehensive knowledge of all aspects of ambulance driver and attendant training and Field Operations.
- Complete a weekly written evaluation on each trainee’s progress. These evaluations shall be completed for the specific period which the instructor works with the trainee.
- Shall notify Director of Training of trainee job performance that might be considered detrimental to patients, public, fellow employees, or company image.
- Further refines training programs and training material within existing company guidelines.
- Review all lesson plans associated with the company’s training Division to ensure compliance with Federal, State, and Local laws and protocols.
- Review and monitor internal and external training programs to assure compliance with Federal, State, and Local laws and protocols.
- Perform other employee training duties as assigned.
- Staff an ambulance as paramedics if needed
- Perform other duties or tasks as directed by, the President or VP of Operations
EDUCATION:
The individual in this position must possess the following education requirements:
- Current California Driver’s License, and Ambulance Driver’s Certificate, and Medical Examiner’s Certificate
- CPR for the healthcare provider certificate
- California Paramedic License
- High School Diploma
- AS or AA Degree. Bachelors preferred
- NAEMSE Instructor Course or Title 22 equivalent EMS instructors’ course.
- Meet all requirements set forth by California’s Title 22 as it pertains to EMS education regulations
- Instructor’s certificates in ACLS, PHTLS, PEPP, PALS. Other appropriate instructor’s certificates may be required after hire
