Overview
Under the direction of the HIM Supervisor this position is responsible to maintain confidentiality of paper and electronic medical records and information. Release medical information according to requirements outlined in State and Federal Rules and Regulations. Maintain excellent Customer Service skills. Answer telephones and process requests accurately. Process documents for scanning and filing into the EMR. Maintain processes for scanning of old records.
Maintain and store old paper records and x-ray films. Perform in-house runner duties as required. Provide coverage for HIM clerks in other satellite clinics as needed. The Scanner/HIM Clerk will interact with other departments, clinic personnel, and outside providers in a professional and friendly manner, to create and maintain a positive relationship with our internal and external customers.
- Perform document preparation processes for ease in scanning of batches of accurate, legible documents.
- Scan records into EHR.
- File documents into correct document type within the EMR.
- Meet production standards of 125 pieces of paper per hour when scanning and filing into EMR.
- Demonstrate knowledge of HIPM as well as other State and Federal Laws regarding release of information and patient confidentiality.
- Assist all walk-in or telephone patients with inquiries/requests for medical information.
- Timely and accurately process any requests for protected information.
- Demonstrate ability to answer telephone and process requested information correctly.
- Adequately cross-train for all HIM procedures and perform any procedure assigned as needed for Department or satellite HIM department coverage.
- Process incoming mail.
- Responsible for sending specialty progress notes to PCP daily.
- Participates in file audits to ensure documents are filed in correct documents type.
- Investigate and process duplicate medical record numbers.
- Performs in-house runner duties when necessary.
- Participate in special projects as necessary.
- Pull records and or print medical records for special projects as necessary.
- Create chart as needed for new patients.
- Participate in quarterly committee meetings as needed (Compliance, CARE, Safety).
- Knowledge of the Electronic Document sign-off through the (PAQ) Provider Approval Queue.
- Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
- A minimum of two years' experience working with a certified EHR application is preferred.
- 1 current Next Gen NCP certification (EHR, PM, Document Management, EAS) is preferred.
- Training experience is preferred;
Clinical certifications are a plus.
The pay range for this position at commencement of employment is expected to be reasonably between $21.00 and $24.71. However, base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
If hired, employee will be in an “at-will position” and the Company reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, Company or individual department/team performance, and market factors.
