Base pay range$18.00/hr - $20.00/hr
Essential Job Functions- Ensure the security of the facility through the continuous monitoring of the grounds and facility.
- General client supervision in daily living activities and general program operation.
- Make copies of necessary program paperwork.
- Place documentation in client files, if registered/certified to do so.
- Assist the counselor facilitating groups and meetings, if registered/certified to do so.
- Ensure all scheduled activities occur at the specified time.
- Prepare client activity reports and other reports as requested.
- Search incoming property and shopping bags.
- Conduct medication calls at specified time frames and according to policy.
- Ensure assignments given to residents are completed.
- Ensure that residents comply with program rules.
- Monitor trip logs and conduct visual contact searches to ensure residents returning to the facility are not under the influence of any substance.
- Ensure the cleanliness and orderliness of the facility.
- Must Embrace and embody the mission, vision, guiding principles, clinical vision, and goals of West Care Foundation.
- Perform all other duties as assigned.

Experience And Competencies- Knowledge of substance abuse and treatment is desired.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Ability to exercise good judgment and discretion.
- Ability to work well in a team environment.
- Adherence to the highest standard of ethical conduct, especially to standards governing confidentiality.
- Professional appearance and demeanor.
- Ability to obtain and maintain clearance from California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation (CDCR).
- Ability to obtain and maintain clearance from LEIE, MSIL, and EPLS.
- Valid driver’s license and ability to obtain and maintain West Care’s vehicle insurance is required.
- CPR Certification, First Aid Certification, and an annual Tuberculosis test.
- One (1) year experience in a residential social service setting providing services to the criminal justice/substance abusing population is preferred.
- Associates Degree in Addiction Counseling, Criminal Justice, Social Work, Psychology, or a related field is preferred.
- High school diploma or equivalent is required.
- Alcohol and Drug Registration and actively pursuing Certification, in good standing by an agency approved and recognized by the Department of Health Care Services (DHCS) is preferred.
- Work is primarily performed in an office or in a Residential treatment setting.
- Some outdoor activities may be required.
- UA testing of clients is required.
- Must be able to de-escalate situations in the program.
The employee must be able to perform the following essential duties and activities with or without accommodation:
Physical Demands- Requires mobility and physical activity: working in an office, residential, or outdoor environment; standing, walking, sitting for extended periods; bending, twisting, reaching, balancing; occasional lifting and carrying up to 10 pounds; use of computer and telephone systems; ability to defend oneself and clients in physically abusive situations using approved physical de-escalation techniques.
- Requires talking: ability to convey detailed or important spoken instructions to others clearly.
- Requires hearing: ability to receive and communicate detailed information orally.
- Requires seeing: clear vision to complete paperwork and observe client behavior.
- Normal duties may involve exposure to potential hazards; appropriate protective equipment is available if needed.
- Ability to collect and analyze complex numerical and written data and verbal information to reach logical conclusions.
- Ability to work with clients, co-workers, managers, and the public to exchange information and instructions.
- Ability to work under stress and in emotionally charged settings.
- Ability to de-escalate mentally or verbally abusive situations using approved techniques.
