Assists the surgical team in the preparation of surgical procedures in the operating room. Prepares surgical cases by creating and maintaining a sterile field, retracting and passing instruments, supplies and medications to surgeons during cases. Performs a variety of technical skills, including the maintenance of supplies.

Education and Work Experience:

• High School Education/GED or equivalent:
  Preferred
• Associate’s/Technical Degree or equivalent combination of education/related experience:
  Preferred
• Scrub technician experience:
  Preferred
• Operating room experience and/or training course:
  Preferred

Licenses/Certifications:

• Surgery Technician certification:
  Preferred
• CPR or BLS certification:
  Required
• Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA):
  Preferred

• Prepares for each surgical case by checking supplies and equipment, assembling sterile fields, and reviewing inventory.
• Maintains sterile field and labels solutions according to standards.
• Transports patients and provides clerical duties as needed.
• Performs instrument, sponge, needle, and blade counts with RN.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.
