Role Overview
As a Tax Manager, you will serve as a high-level technical expert and a key strategic advisor to our clients. You will lead the tax lifecycle—from managing complex compliance for diverse entities to identifying sophisticated tax-planning opportunities. This role balances technical "in-the-trenches" review with high-level team leadership and client relationship management.
Key Areas of Responsibility1. Technical Compliance & Quality Control
- Final Review: Review and approve federal/state returns for Individuals, Partnerships, S-Corps, C-Corps, Trusts, and Estates.
- Complex Issues: Manage multi-state filings, PTE elections, cost-segregation, and basis analysis.
- Audit Defense: Oversee responses to IRS/state notices and lead clients through tax audits and examinations.
- Tax Research: Interpret complex tax laws and draft technical memoranda for internal and client use.
- Tax Optimization: Develop strategies to minimize liability, including 1031 exchanges and restructuring.
- Business Lifecycle: Advise on entity selection, M&A transactions, and succession planning.
- Collaborative Consulting: Work alongside attorneys and financial advisors to provide holistic wealth and business solutions.
- Mentorship: Supervise and develop Senior Associates and Interns through consistent, constructive feedback.
- Workflow Oversight: Manage multiple engagements simultaneously, ensuring projects stay on budget and meet all deadlines.
- Process Innovation: Improve internal templates and procedures to increase firm-wide efficiency.
Required Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Accounting.
- Certification: Active CPA license (or CPA-eligible).
- Experience: 3–8 years in public accounting with a focus on tax.
- Software: High proficiency in professional tax software (
Lacerte preferred).
Skills:
- Experience with multi-entity structures and high-net-worth individuals.
- Strong background in PTE taxes and multi-state compliance.
- Proven ability to translate complex tax concepts for non-technical clients.
- Location: In-office professional environment.
- Seasonal Demand: Extended hours are expected during peak tax filing seasons.
- Growth: A commitment to continuous professional education (CPE) to stay ahead of tax law changes.
