Instrumentation Control and Electrical Technician Job Description
We are seeking a highly motivated Automation & Controls Lead to take ownership of PLC, HMI, and SCADA programming efforts and support automation projects in the field. This hands‑on role will lead automation portions of electrical and controls projects from design through startup, while providing direction to electricians and field technicians.
Responsibilities- Lead PLC, HMI, and SCADA programming efforts.
- Support automation projects in the field.
- Troubleshoot control systems and provide instrumentation support.
- Develop network architecture and provide panel integration guidance.
- Participate in commissioning and startup activities.
Establish automation standards and support company growth.
- Strong experience with Allen‑Bradley, Schneider, and other major control platforms.
- Deep industrial electrical and controls knowledge.
- Ability to diagnose and resolve issues in live industrial production environments.
- Strong PLC programming experience
- Experience with HMI and SCADA development.
- Knowledge of Ethernet/IP, industrial networking, and fieldbus systems.
- Ability to lead and mentor electricians and technicians.
Skills & Qualifications
- Experience with electrical troubleshooting, pneumatics, and schematics.
- Knowledge of VFD and industrial control systems.
- AutoCAD experience is a plus.
- Industrial cybersecurity exposure preferred.
- Self‑motivated and dependable.
- Willingness to work hands‑on in the field and take callouts.

Work EnvironmentWork in an industrial field environment with local and regional travel. Engage in hands‑on work with live industrial systems and interact with electricians, field technicians, and various office and field settings. This is a fast‑paced, high‑responsibility role with autonomy.
Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract position based out of Bakersfield, CA.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $35.00 - $45.00/hr.
