Kern Community College District is soliciting applications for part‑time, hourly adjunct instructors in the Social Science Department. The starting salary is $67.00 per hour, with rates varying based on assignment type and the Lecture Hour Equivalent (LHE) formula.

The successful applicant will provide instruction in a full range of Psychology courses, using multiple teaching methodologies and teaching at other campus sites.

Duties include:

• Participation in student recruitment and articulation of transfer programs for the Social Science department.
• Maintaining subject matter currency.
• Developing and revising curriculum.
• Using computer and multimedia technology.
• Collegial participation in departmental, college and discipline‑specific professional activities.
• Teaching classes for day, evening, weekend, large, distance learning and incarcerated students.

• Master's in psychology
• OR a Bachelor's in psychology AND a Master's in counseling, sociology, statistics, neuroscience or social work
• OR equivalent qualifications (education, experience and other accomplishments).
• Degrees and credits from accredited institutions. Foreign degrees must be evaluated by a recognized service.
• Demonstrated sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students.

• Adept at working effectively with colleagues in an innovative teaching environment.
• Effective with students possessing a wide range of skills and goals.
• Curriculum development across modalities.
• Recruitment and articulation activities with local schools.
• Strong oral and written communication.
• Subject matter currency and assessment of student learning outcomes.
• Computer proficiency and willingness to explore new technologies.
• Commitment to the California community college mission.
