School Community Specialist / Campus Security
Open to Kern High School District Regular and Substitute Employees Only.
Qualifications- Knowledge of minority cultures and heritage as well as knowledge of the local community and the various services available to the migrant and minority community.
- Knowledge of approved techniques and methods of youth supervision;
District rules and regulations pertaining to student behavior. - Skill to understand and follow oral and written instructions independently; read and write at a sufficient level for successful performance of required duties; effectively communicate in both oral and written form; maintain routine records and prepare reports; plan and organize required activities according to stated policies and objectives; persuade and motivate individuals and groups; relate well with students; analyze situations accurately and adopt an effective course of action;
exercise tact, diplomacy and good judgment in dealing with students; establish and maintain effective work relationships with those contacted in the performance of duties. - Completion of the twelfth grade is required, preferably supplemented by college level courses in sociology and school/community relations.
- Successful experience and first‑hand knowledge in working with minority groups is required.
- Proof of completion of SB1626 school security guard training is required.
- Three years of responsible experience involving a considerable amount of youth work are required, preferably in a high school setting.
- Must possess and maintain a valid California driver’s license and submit a copy of the current driving record issued by the State Department of Motor Vehicles.
- Pre‑employment medical assessment and criminal history check are required prior to employment.
- Acts as a liaison between the migrant program, minorities, schools, migrant and minority parents, and community services.
- Assists in supervising students on school grounds, parking lots, and areas adjacent to the school to ensure proper conduct and maximum class attendance.
- Assists in enforcing school rules and regulations pertaining to student behavior, order, and conduct.
- Enforces school rules and regulations regarding student behavior and order.
- Breaks up student altercations whenever necessary and performs related duties as required.
Starting Salary: $3,257.06 monthly
Number of Months: 9.4 (to begin as soon as possible)
